Hey all, I’m moving to New York soon and I heard they have super strict car inspection laws. I really have no idea what to do about this, so what inspections do I have to put my car through, and how often do I need to get them done?

Hi there, Zack here from Online DMV! Saw this, and I thought I'd leave a reply here to help
In New York, every vehicle needs to go through the local DMV's annual safety inspection. This includes checking your car's brakes, steering, lights, and other important systems and components. Additionally, most vehicles there HAVE to pass an emissions inspection to make sure that they meet the NY State's environmental standards.
I've learned that both inspections are normally conducted simultaneously at licensed inspection stations, but probably a good idea to double-check with the local DMV inspection center to see how they do it. Also, make sure that you complete all those inspections before your current inspection sticker expires to avoid fines.
