Hi everyone, I just turned 17 recently and just starting the process of getting my driver’s license. But I'm confused about all the steps I need to take as a first time driver. Do I need to take the written test first? What documents should I bring? Any help would be appreciated!

Hey there, Zack from Online DMV here; thought I'd jump in, so I hope this helps
The first step that you'll have to go through is getting the learner’s permit. This means you'll have to pass the DMV's written knowledge test. For the test, make sure you bring proof of identity (e.g., birth certificate or passport, or something like that ought to work - best to confirm this with the DMV first), Social Security number, and proof of residency (depends on which state you're in).
After that, most states - you haven't mentioned which state you're in, so I'll give a general answer - require some driver’s education classes and some supervised practice driving hours (with a learner's permit, usually) before taking the behind the wheel road test to get your license. I'd suggest checking your local state DMV’s website for exact details, but either way, best of luck!
