What endorsements can I get for my CDL?

A friend of mine is seriously thinking about applying for a CDL and they want to know what kind of endorsements they could get or what it takes to even get one

I never understood what CDL endorsements are, so can anyone here shed some light on this? What's even the process for getting one - not really for me, but I really want to help my friend

Hey there, and thanks for dropping by! There are tons of endorsements that you can get for your CDL. These include:

1) H (Hazardous Materials) - if you're carrying hazardous materials (might need a background check)

2) N (Tank Vehicle) - if you're driving vehicles that carry liquids or gaseous materials in tanks

3) P (Passenger) - if you want to drive vehicles that can carry 16 or more passengers

4) S (School Bus) - this lets you drive school buses

5) T (Double/Triple Trailers) - you can get this if you want to pull double or triple trailers

6) X (Combination of Tank Vehicle and Hazardous Materials) - basically combines the N and H endorsements
