I'm going to an Illinois DMV for the first time (never been outside my home state before!)

Just like any DMV, I'd suggest that you visit early in the morning or mid-week - it's usually less crowded then. This ought to save you a lot of time from waiting in line. Speaking of, consider booking appointments online in advance, since I hear the Illinois DMV prioritizes those over walk-ins. And, remember to double-check that you've got all your paperwork in order!
