Hello, great to hear that you've been thinking about applying for a REAL ID
In states that offer them, a REAL ID is basically a federally compliant form of ID and is required for domestic air travel. Not sure if this applies to you, but some states also require a REAL ID to enter secure federal facilities, like military bases.
That said, if you don't plan on flying too often or if you're not accessing military bases anyway, a standard ID is more than enough for most people. Besides, a standard ID is already good enough for voting, driving, identification, etc.
